A review of recent advances in adsorption desalination technologies

Adsorption-based desalination (AD) is an emerging concept to co-generate distilled fresh water and cooling applications. The present study aimed provide a comprehensive review of the adsorption systems subsequent hybridization with known conventional cycles such as multiple-effect AD (MED), solar regenerable, integrated evaporator-condenser cascaded, ejector systems. are investigated for energy consumption, productivity enhancement, performance parameters, including production cost, daily production, coefficient. Comprehensive economic aspects, future challenges, progress technologies discussed accordingly pave researchers' paths technological innovation. Traditional can produce specific 25 kg per adsorbent. desalination-cooling (ADC) showed promising power 112 W/kg along COP 0.45. Furthermore, hybrid MEDAD cycle, gain output ratio (GOR) (PR) found be 40%, augmented rate from 60% two folds. technology could manage high salinity feed low reasonable cost US$0.2/m3.
